Retro eatery Carbone is an homage to the great Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century New York – brought into being by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick, the team behind the super-successful Major Food Group. Titular chef Carbone grew up with grandparents from both north and south Italy whose experiences of cooking would shape his future path. Step off a busy Greenwich Village street straight onto a Godfather-inspired floor and indulge in old-school classics such as seafood cocktail, minestrone soup, linguini vongole and veal parmesan. There’s an excellent, lengthy list of French, Italian and American wines, plus classic cocktails and the option to bring your own wine for a corkage fee.
