          Asturias, Culinary Landscape

A combination of coast and high mountain that has managed to merge the Atlantic and Mediterranean traditions creating a unique territory: this is Asturias, Spain’s natural paradise.

Asturias is the port at which disembarks half of the exceptional fish provided by the Cantabrian Sea, while its green meadows guarantee the best sustenance and the quality of the meat of a sustainable livestock.

Whoever travels through the Asturian landscapes becomes aware of its diversity and understands why it has a unique pantry in the world. Angulas in the winter, verdinas in autumn, bonito in summer or the first cider of the season in spring accompany a cuisine that finds a perfect ally in the transition between seasons to shine at any time of the year.

When the Asturian product reaches the hands of its cooks, “guisanderas”, and pastry chefs, the result is a gift for the palate. The hospitality professionals appointed as Ambassadors of “Cocina de Paisaje” are the standard of Asturian gastronomy – professionals defending a tradition they have been able to reinterpret, respecting the recipe book and bowing to the product. Their restaurants throughout Asturias redefine rural and urban landscapes, and have become true gastronomic lighthouses in which the best of the excellent local production is projected to the world.

Asturias is closer than ever with a stable offer of direct connections from 25 European airports. London, Paris, Frankfurt or Rome are now among the short-haul flights to the natural paradise.
